  DJ and producer duo Discodromo are delighted to present a three-vinyl compilation and a book/poster/postcard/sticker + t-shirt + tote bag to celebrate the tenth birthday of their Berlin party CockTail d’Amore.
  
  It started in September 2009 as an itinerant event, camping out in approximately fifteen locations around Berlin in its first five years: from clubs to illegal venues, abandoned warehouses, a former DDR supermarket, and a circus tent, to name a few.
  Initially just a gathering of friends, and friends of friends, the party moved to accommodate its growing audience, mostly boosted by word of mouth.
  The night has become one of the main institutions of the international queer (and beyond) party map. Quality music often provided by a variety of DJs, from fresh names to some more popular ones, distinguishes its sound.
  
  Very early in its history, CockTail d’Amore’s humorous, playful, witty visual communication set the party’s tone and translated, when switching from printed matter to a more eco-friendly virtual approach, into the Cocktail facebook group which became a very active community with 20+K members.
  
  The concept soon evolved into a music label with the same name counting a considerable number of releases and showcasing successful artists like Sfire, Powder, Iury Lech and Kris Baha among others.
  
  From the party’s first flyers, through the record covers and music videos, Pindaros Andriopoulos (Pindar) has curated Cocktail’s visual language since the start. The last few years have also seen the addition of a series of obscure but wry video collages that serve as monthly “party trailers”.

  After losing one more location due to corporate estate investments, the party found a more stable home in 2014 at the club Griessmuehle.
  
  A decade went by, a decade of parties that start on Saturday night and stretch until Monday morning; a decade of long hours of music and dances, countless wild encounters, occasional hook-ups and many sleepless nights.
  The compilation and the book try to capture both a sense of these experiences and the guiding aspiration of Cocktail to be a utopian sex-positive safer space where people from different backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and sexualities are truly free to express themselves.
  
  The compilation put together by Discodromo features the sound that best evokes the party and its evolution throughout the last 10 years. Each of the three vinyl is themed after one of the party’s three dance floors, tracking an array of styles and moods, from the downtempo psychedelia of the Cosmic Hole, to the sleazy bangers of the Main Room, and the kaleidoscopic surges of the Garden. Tornado Wallace fetishizes the Italo sound of the latter with his “Start Again”, while the breaks of Greenvision’s “Sleeping Bag In New York” conjure a clubber’s hallucinations on a Sunday afternoon. Bell Towers and Bon Voyage nostalgically cover the B side while CPI, the name behind Marc Piñol and Hugo Capablanca’s collaborative project, launches the Cosmic Hole with a hypnotic acid ballad. Synth-noir melodies are brought by Juan Ramos and Kris Baha, and Bézier journeys to a One Thousand and One Nights soundscape with his “Starpoint”. Jonathan Kusuma’s “Energi Hall” expresses the Main Room sound in his own future-tribal terms as does DJ City with his bleepy “Torreyson Drive”. The same vinyl also features two highly desired collaborations: Mascaras x Powder on one side and Samo DJ and Sleep D on the other. If the former explore polyrhythmic grooves and unexpected sonic layering, the latter drift into arpeggiated iterations of modern Trance.
  
  Accompanying the records, the aforementioned book (including a postcard, a poster and stickers) also compiled and designed by Discodromo, which archives some of their favourite images, stories, anecdotes and poems from Cocktail’s history, many offered in response to an open call on social media.
  “The garden can turn into a runway, into a playground for silliness into a meeting spot where all the friends reunite” wrote Tinka F in an email from April 2019; “Cocktail has managed to provide a space and time where in everything and nothing can exist” says Marcus Knupp. “I found a place where I felt I could really relate on a deep level not just to the people, but to the purpose of the party itself” Sarah Hamilton wrote. “We’re fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance” says Pindar in one of the myriad of videos he made for the party and label.
